Pitchers

The Pitcher’s Training Program is based on the methods developed and used by American Sports Medicine Institute clinicians and coaches.  These techniques have been proven effective at the professional and collegiate level. The training protocols specifically address shoulder range of motion, strength, endurance and muscular balance.

Years of experience and clinical observations as well as multiple studies have demonstrated that without in-season intervention, shoulder joint laxity, stiffness and fatigue will accumulate over the course of a season leading to injury. Another way of stating this is that shoulder and elbow injuries occur when a pitcher’s shoulder is too tight, too loose or too fatigued.

We offer Off-Season, In-Season and Pre-Game Warm-Up Programs.

Off-Season

The Off-Season Program focuses on developing the appropriate shoulder range of motion, strength, rotator cuff endurance and muscular balance necessary to start the season. A critically important part of the Off-Season Program is building the shoulder’s capacity to safely decelerate the arm during the follow thru.

In-Season and Warm-Ups

The In-Season Program is designed to maintain the pitching shoulder’s “normal” range of motion, strength and muscular balance. In-season intervention is necessary to mitigate the inevitable change in the pitching shoulder’s range of motion and loss of strength during the season.  Also critical is maintaining rotator cuff muscular balance which can be lost due to fatigue.

The Warm-Up Program teaches young pitchers how to properly prepare to pitch whether in games, bullpen or practice.
