Track Athletes

In team sports, the athlete who can “get there first” usually has the best chance of winning.  And the athlete “who gets there first” is the one who can start, stop, change direction and accelerate the fastest. That’s why, for team sport athletes, our training focuses on improving acceleration and change of direction capacity.

For track athletes, speed training focuses on improving both straight line acceleration and maximum velocity.

Individual Requirements

To get faster you may need to get stronger, but increasing strength is not necessarily the answer for every athlete. There are many components to speed. Muscular strength, tendons’ reflexive responses, capacity to absorb and convert force, central nervous system responses, balance, single leg strength/stability, foot/ankle complex function, mobility and running mechanics all have a role. But, the specific aspects of speed development an athlete needs to improve depends on the individual.

Our Speed Development Programming addresses the individual athlete’s specific needs regarding all the components of speed.
